Privacy Policy for AI Page Summarizer Extension

This privacy policy explains how the AI Page Summarizer Chrome Extension ("the Extension") protects your information.

1. Information We Collect

No Personal Information: We do not collect or use any personal information about you.
Gemini API Key: The Extension requires you to provide your own Google Gemini API key. This key is stored locally on your device using Chrome's local storage and is never transmitted to our servers or any third party other than the Google Gemini API itself.
Webpage Content: When you initiate a summary, the Extension extracts the visible text content or YouTube transcript from the active tab. This content is sent to the Google Gemini API for summarization.
User Preferences: Your preferences for summary word limit, markdown formatting, font size, model temperature, and settings visibility are stored locally on your device using Chrome's local storage.

Gemini API Key: Used solely to authenticate your requests to the Google Gemini API for generating summaries. We don't collect or store any of your Gemini API key on our servers.
Webpage Content: Used as input for the Google Gemini API to generate a concise summary of the active webpage or video transcript. We don't collect or store any of your webpage content on our servers.
User Preferences: Used to customize the summarization process and the display of the summary within the Extension's popup. We don't collect or store any of your user preferences on our servers.

The Extension sends your Gemini API key and the extracted webpage content to the Google Gemini API for the purpose of generating summaries.
No other personal data or browsing information is shared with us or any other third parties.

All user-specific data (API key and preferences) is stored locally on your device via chrome.storage.local. The Extension does not maintain any remote servers to store your data.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
